Step Ahead Learning Center provides early childhood education in a home like environment conducive to the total growth and development of children.

OUR GOALS

• Help children grow up in a safe and nurturing environment, and at the same time assist them to become self reliant and independent.
• Use developmentally appropriate programs to satisfy each child's physical, emotional and intellectual needs.
• Help children explore their environment through play.
• Offer children a home away from home and help them to adapt both socially and intellectually in a diverse environment.

MEETING THE NEEDS OF THE CHILDREN

Step Ahead Learning Center accepts children without regard to race, color, creed or sex, who will benefit from programs that offer a balance of self-directive play and the opportunity to creatively express themselves.  There is a strong emphasis on language development, cognitive skills, small and gross motor coordination, and development of interaction between children and adults. Children benefit from sequential learning experiences that keep their curiosity and creativity alive.

AGES OF CHILDREN ACCEPTED

Acceptable ages of children at Step Ahead Learning Center are:

• Infant Center                        3 to 23 months

• Preschool                              2 to 4 years

• Pre Kindergarten                 4 to 5 years

• School Age Day Care          5 to 12 years         

DAYS AND HOURS OF OPERATION

Step Ahead Learning Center is open all year round Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM, except during public holidays and a few additional days as published in our calendar.

ACTIVITIES

We offer a variety of activities in Art, Dramatic Play, Science, Computer, Water Play, Cooking, Music, Reading Readiness, Small and Gross Motor Skills, Math and Group Interactions.  Our curriculum is developmentally scaled for each age group.

We also organize field trips, and different social activities based on holidays and other special events.

MEALS

Food and nutrition services form an important element of the programs at Step Ahead.  The teachers serve the children meals in family style, and encourage them to practice courteous behavior at the table.  Food that is eaten together pleasantly, remains a great socializing tool all through life. 

We serve Breakfast between 7:30 to 8:00 AM.  Lunch is served at 12 noon.  In addition, snacks are provided in the morning and afternoon.

NAP TIME

A two-hour rest and quiet period is offered to our children between 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM.

OUR TEACHERS

Step Ahead Learning Center places great emphasis on the selection of teachers who are warm and nurturing.  We are responsive to the needs of our teachers.  We provide supportive atmosphere to our staff through training, education, recognition and financial incentives that encourage every one to reach their full potential.  Our teachers are trained in Early Childhood Education.

ALL YEAR ROUND PROGRAMS

We offer child care programs year round at Step Ahead Learning Center. The school year program is from September to June. During the summer months we offer appropriate programs planned around summer themes.  Swimming program is usually available at a local recreation center through our Center in the summer. Other optional programs available through us are gymnastics and dance/ballet.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE

We offer before and after school child care for the children attending local public schools. 

KEEPING PARENTS INFORMED

We publish a monthly newsletter and an activity calendar to keep the parents informed.  We hold 'open house' to introduce parents to their children's progress.  Parent-teacher conferences are offered twice a year.
